How does water temperature sensor work?
The Temperature sensor measures the coolant temperature & sends information to the ECU. The water temperature sensor enables the control unit to identify engine overheating or an unusual rise in temperature. Depending on the car manufacturers, it is usually installed next to the thermostat or inside it.
Which sensor is used to measure water temperature?
NTC Thermistors are ideal for measuring temperature in liquids such as water and gas because of their long-term stability and reliability. They also provide extreme accuracy compared to a thermocouple, making them the perfect solution for measuring small variations in lake temperature.
How do you measure a water temperature sensor?
Simple Ways to Test a Temperature Sensor with a Multimeter
Submerge the sensor in the water and take a reading.
Gently lower the end of the sensor into the water until the entire device is fully submerged. Wait a minute or so for the screen to give you a reading of the cold water. Once you have a reading, write down the measurement for reference.
